Editorial policy

What we publish, where it comes from, how it is labelled, and what we do when we get it wrong.

Last reviewed 7 September 2026

How we source data

All equity market data originates from the official PSX Data Portal (dps.psx.com.pk), maintained by the Pakistan Stock Exchange. Mutual fund NAVs come from MUFAP, the Mutual Funds Association of Pakistan. We collect from these primary sources rather than from secondary aggregators.

Prices are collected through the trading session and again after the close. Fund NAVs are collected once per publication cycle. Market data is presented as we received it — we do not adjust, smooth or restate a published figure. If a source publishes a correction, our figure changes when we next collect it.

We are an independent analytics publisher. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Pakistan Stock Exchange, MUFAP, or any listed company, asset manager or broker.

Three kinds of content, always labelled

Almost every trust failure in financial publishing comes from blurring these three. We keep them visually and structurally distinct, so you always know which one you are reading.

Collected data

Prices, volumes, NAVs, corporate actions and reported fundamentals. Presented as published by the source. We compute indicators on top of it using standard, documented formulas — a value here should match what you would calculate yourself from the same prices.

Editorial writing

Guides, explainers and analysis written by a named person, who is credited by name and linked to a page listing their background and everything else they have published here.

Machine output

Model scores, signals, target prices and the daily market wrap. Generated by software, published without human review, and marked as such wherever it appears.

How model output is produced and labelled

Our forecasts come from a logistic-regression classifier trained on Pakistan Stock Exchange end-of-day history. It is arithmetic. It weighs a fixed list of technical and fundamental inputs and returns a directional probability. It does not read news, it does not know what a company does, and no analyst reviews its output before publication.

We chose a model we can decompose over one that might score better. Every output can be traced back to the exact contribution of each input. The full specification — inputs, training window, and known limitations — is on the methodology page.

Anywhere a model figure appears, it is labelled as automated output and carries a link to the method behind it. A model signal is never presented as a recommendation, and we do not publish stock tips.

We publish our failures

Our model performance page reports out-of-sample accuracy across every forecast the model has issued, including the periods it read badly. Forecasts are written to an append-only ledger at the moment they are issued and graded later against the prices that actually printed. Nothing is re-derived after the fact.

We do not present back-tests as if they were results, and we do not quote a headline accuracy figure that a reader cannot check on that page. If a stated number and the ledger ever disagree, the ledger is correct and the number is a bug — please report it.

Corrections policy

If something here is wrong — a figure, a company profile, a claim in a guide — tell us at support@psxexpert.com or through our contact page.

  • We acknowledge reports within two working days.
  • A confirmed factual error in editorial content is corrected within one working day of confirmation.
  • A corrected article carries a dated note at the foot saying what changed. We do not silently edit and republish.
  • A data error traced to a source is fixed at our end and reported upstream where we can.
  • A model that is producing wrong output is taken down rather than left running while we investigate.

Corrections are not embarrassing. Leaving errors up is.

Independence and how we make money

This site is free to use and funded by advertising. No company can pay to appear here, to be profiled, to be screened favourably, or to influence a model signal. We accept no payment from any listed company, asset manager, broker or promoter, and we do not publish sponsored stock tips.

Adverts are served by third-party networks and marked as advertisements. We do not choose which specific adverts you see, and an advert next to an article is not an endorsement in either direction. See our cookie policy for how advertising cookies are used.

We are not licensed by the SECP as a securities adviser, investment adviser, research analyst or broker-dealer. We do not accept client money and we do not manage portfolios. Our full disclaimer sets out the limits of everything published here.

Who is accountable

Editorial responsibility for everything published on PSX Expert rests with Ali Hamza, who can be reached directly through our contact page.

Named guides and explainers carry the byline of the person who wrote them, linked to a page setting out their background. Machine-generated content — model output and the daily market wrap — is attributed to the desk rather than to an individual, because no individual wrote it.

Review cadence

Evergreen guides carry a last-updated date and are re-checked at least once a year, and sooner when the thing they describe changes — a tax rate, an index rule, a regulatory requirement. Pages that quote live figures state the session those figures came from.

A guide we no longer believe is accurate and cannot fix is withdrawn, not left up. This policy itself is reviewed annually and carries the date of its last review at the top.
