Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about how PSX Expert sources Pakistan Stock Exchange data, computes its indicators, and generates explainable forecasts. Still curious? Reach out any time.

Yes. All prices, volumes, and company figures are scraped directly from the official PSX Data Portal (dps.psx.com.pk), the same source maintained by the Pakistan Stock Exchange. We do not invent, simulate, or randomise quotes. What you see on a stock page reflects the most recent values we were able to fetch from the exchange feed, along with the technical indicators and fundamentals we compute on top of that raw data.

We refresh market data on a regular schedule throughout the trading day, and end-of-day figures are reconciled after the close. Because we depend on the public PSX Data Portal, our quotes are near-real-time rather than tick-by-tick streaming. For most analytics use cases — reviewing trends, comparing sectors, checking indicators — this cadence is more than sufficient. If you need millisecond execution data, use a licensed broker terminal instead.

We compute a market-cap-weighted KSE-100 index from the constituent companies, mirroring the methodology the exchange uses: larger companies move the index more than smaller ones. This lets you see the broad direction of the Pakistani market at a glance and compare any individual stock against the benchmark. You can explore the index in detail on the index page.

Each signal is the output of an explainable, rule-based forecast engine — not a black-box model. A Buy signal means the combined technical and fundamental rules currently lean bullish; Sell leans bearish; Hold means the evidence is mixed or neutral. Every signal comes with a confidence score, a suggested target and stop level, and a plain-language explanation of why the engine reached that conclusion, so you can judge the reasoning for yourself.

No. PSX Expert is an educational and analytical tool. Nothing on the site — including signals, confidence scores, targets, or commentary — constitutes financial, investment, legal, or tax advice, nor a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Markets carry real risk of loss. Always do your own research and consult a licensed financial advisor before making any investment decision. See our disclaimer for the full terms.

No forecast of the stock market is ever guaranteed, and past performance does not predict future results. We publish the model's real out-of-sample accuracy — measured on data it was never trained on, including the periods it read badly — on the model performance page. It is not a spectacular number, because honest numbers on this problem are not spectacular; anyone claiming 90% accuracy on stock direction is measuring on training data. Unexpected news, earnings surprises and macro events override any technical setup. Treat confidence as the model's own conviction, not a probability of profit.

We compute a broad set of widely used indicators on every covered stock, including simple and exponential moving averages (SMA, EMA), the Relative Strength Index (RSI), MACD, Average True Range (ATR), Bollinger Bands, the Stochastic oscillator, ADX, On-Balance Volume (OBV), and Williams %R. Together these cover trend, momentum, volatility, and volume so you can analyse a stock from several angles.

Alongside technicals we surface core company fundamentals such as the price-to-earnings ratio (P/E), earnings per share (EPS), dividend yield, and market capitalisation. These let you weigh a company's valuation and income profile against its chart, rather than relying on price action alone.

The forecast comes from a logistic regression model (versioned logistic-v1, shown on every stock page) trained on technical indicators and fundamentals across the full price history of every listed stock. It is a linear model, so each feature carries an explicit weight and any output can be decomposed into what each factor contributed — there is no hidden neural network making opaque guesses. Being a trained model, it learned from history and assumes the future resembles the past, which is exactly the assumption that breaks in a regime change. The methodology page explains this in full.

No automated system should be trusted blindly, including ours. The engine is a starting point for your own analysis, not a substitute for it. The most reliable way to use PSX Expert is to combine the signal with the underlying indicators, the company's fundamentals, recent news, and your personal risk tolerance. The plain-language explanation attached to each signal exists precisely so you can challenge and verify the reasoning.

Yes. The core analytics — stock pages, indicators, fundamentals, the KSE-100 index, the screener, and forecasts — are available free of charge. The site is supported in part by advertising, which is why you may see ad placements between sections of content.

A watchlist is your personal shortlist of stocks you want to follow. Instead of searching for the same symbols every visit, you can add them to one place and check their latest prices, indicators, and signals together. It is a convenient way to monitor a focused set of companies you care about.

Yes. PSX Expert is built mobile-first with a responsive layout, so charts, tables, and analytics adapt to phones, tablets, and desktops alike. You can review the market on the go without installing an app.

A note on responsible use

PSX Expert exists to make Pakistan Stock Exchange data more accessible and easier to interpret. Our signals and indicators are tools for thinking, not instructions to trade. Investing in equities involves the risk of losing capital, and no analytics platform can remove that risk. Use the platform to inform your own judgement, size your positions responsibly, and never invest money you cannot afford to lose.
